Rachels post

it's not debbie, it's her friend rachel ;) debbie asked me to right a blog so here i am ...

this evening we were in cafe nero and just randomly chatting - as you do. we were talking about the worship at our church compared to another one and saying how pants it was, and how the holy spirit doesn't come. We figured that the leader and the worship leader have to be in tune with one another so that the holy spirit can come. Cuz, someone can only teach to where they are, no-one can teach something that they havn't experienced or don't understand. And it's the same with worship, if a worship leader doean't worship then what on earth is the point in showing other people how to worship? And if the leader and the worship leader are both intune with the holy spirit, then the holy spirit is gonna be welcome to come to the congregation. right? He is going to turn up in a powerful way, and actually be wanted! Some churches only have one of the two. so they're half way there. it is vital to have both, as a pair - and if the worship leader and leader are both in tune with the spirit and each other then voila!!! - can't spell!!

Anyways - i wasn't supposed to talk about that - i was mean't to be doing it on us!! Rant over!!!

friends - friends are amazing!! ... i honestly think friends are the most important key of making someones personality. If it wasn't for all of my friends, then i wouldn't be the same person. full stop! ... friends are amazing - they can make you laugh or cry, happy or sad etc, they're there for you when you need someone to talk to, and are always there when we're feeling sad. I thank god every day for my friends. If i hadn't had a certain friend, i wouldn't have ever told someone i was a Christian, if i hadn't had another friend, i wouldn't be a Christian!! ... do you get what i mean? friends are what makes you you!!! HALLELUJAH FOR FRIENDS!!!!!

I'm done!!

thanks

x

The Holy Spirit is already around when you meet to worship. He doesn't come, he is there in your heart (If you're saved). An 'outpouring' of the Holy Spirit doesn't happen becasue the worship leaders and leaders are 'in tune', it happens because God is gracious and wants to bless us. If it depended on anyone's relationship or 'tune in' with God he would never bless us in that way, because we are all sinners in need of grace. Be careful :-) xx Simone

Whilst I do agree with anonymous - to a point - I would also have to say that I understand where Rachel is coming from. It is possible to go to a church service and sing worship songs & hymns without actually worshipping. I have done this myself. But having an annointed worship leader, who is in tune with what God is doing or saying that particular day can HELP in bringing us into a place where we actually meet our risen saviour and begin to worship Him.

But having said that, it is possible for us to enter into worship even if the worship leader doesn't actually LEAD us there. It is down to us, and how we approach the time

I also know the "other" church they were talking about - the worship IS amazing and it is very difficult to to get caught up in praise and wonder!

Yes, I see that. Very often we make the mistake of going to church and concentrate on what we get out of it, I guess in this instance it could be an 'experience' through worship. We are there to worship God and give him praise, if that is through hymns, that is through hymns, he looks at the heart.

Also, we can't look into people's hearts. What could be 'dull' and 'uninspired' worship to one could be really meaningful worship to another.

For fear of sounding like an old know-it-all, I used to think the same, Rachel (and also had plenty of patronizing comments like this could be taken as, it's not meant to...) until I discovered that my heart was (is) not always right an could be very judgmental of others.

good stuff thinking about it all though! xx Simone
